Abbreviations for products described

(we are working on getting actual symbols on the website but for now it is simply abbreviations)

The products have different attributes associated with them. If there are two options of an attribute, the best option of the two is in bold. For all products/companies PEASY has attempted to ensure ethical production and a livable wage for the workers. If you know something we don’t, let us know here. Here is a description of what exactly the abbreviations mean:

Qualities of product

(As a general rule of thumb the product has to be either compostable or reusable to be featured on the site. We prefer vegan/CF products and have done our best to ensure this as well as all the other attributes. We do not feature products where know for sure they have been tested on animals or have toxic inks in them for example.

O – Company is certified B-corp or the products have individually been certified organic by GOTS, USDA, NSF, OEFFA, COSMOS, Austria Bio Garantie, NATRUE, ECOCERT, BDIH or CosmeBio. The company may also simply inform that the product(s) is organic.

V – The product may be certified vegan by The Vegan Society, PETA, NATRUE, VeganOK or vegan.org. The company may also simply inform that the product(s) is vegan.

CF – The product may be certified cruelty free by PETA, SAFE, CCF AU, Orangutan alliance Certified, NATRUE, Leaping Bunny, The Finnish Key Flag Emblem or The Vegan Society. The company may also simply inform that the product(s) is cruelty-free.

COM –The company informs that the product(s) is compostable. (PEASY has done its best to make sure this is REALLY true.)

RM – The product itself is made from recycled materials.

RS – The product is reusable for a long period of time.

RF – The product can be refilled via the company’s individual program.

PM – The product either includes some or all of these characteristics: proper inks and dyes used for packaging and the product itself, guaranteed no harmful agents in the products to either the environment or humans, micro-waste free. (Disclaimer: PEASY has made the effort to do this for all products there is only a guarantee for some products).

Packaging/shipping of product

OP – The individual packaging that the product comes in is recyclable.

PP – The individual packaging that the product comes in is recyclable and made from recycled materials by at least 50% or above. (PEASY has attempted to ensure this number is correct as best as we can but it is not guaranteed).

OS – The shipping packaging and materials that the company uses are recyclable. (PEASY recommends saving shipping materials for when you have to ship something yourself).

PS – The shipping packaging that the company uses is recyclable and made from recycled materials. (PEASY recommends saving shipping materials for when you have to ship something yourself)

Company’s sustainability

WTCN – The company is making steps towards going carbon neutral or conserving emissions.

CN – The company is third party certified Carbon Neutral.

WTWaE – The company is making steps towards going completely water efficient or simply conserving water. They may also have their own water supply ensuring that no water is taken from other places.

WaE – The company has a closed loop water system and is completely water efficient.

RP – The company has a program in place to recycle materials that can’t normally be recycled/reused/composted. This can either be materials/products from outside the company or materials/products the company has produced and wants to ensure get recycled into new products.
